I had been tempted to close my accounts then re-open them later (though I never wanted to put that much effort into it so I never did). I tend to side with Mair in not taking the risk because you don't want it to bite you in the ass. Although, they aren't really quick to act...I have made MAYBE 5 payments on my loans in the last 3 years, and have not been in deferment or forbearance...so I've been in default pretty much that whole time. They are just now giving me notice that they can take my tax return if they want to. Not that they WILL, but that they CAN. Anyway - I would try to find any loophole or ways around things, but I don't know that I would outright lie on it...the government is slow, but eventually they want what is due to them and they will get it no matter the expense to you.
man - I'm long-winded tonight.
good example.
but shoot, i'm just looking for loan money that doesn't drain the savings i've worked for. that's all. i'm not looking to cheat the government, but to get student loans that don't soak me. that's all, really.
i deserve to have my money. i'm not looking for grants, just reasonable loans.
shut up, lori
